Kids Company founder Camila Batmanghelidjh has been announced as a guest speaker at Triodos Bank’s annual meeting on September 13.

The theme of this year’s event is real ‘Real Cost, True Value’ and Camila will be joined by Director of the Sustainable Food Trust, Patrick Holden, Solarcentury’s chairman Jeremy Leggett and speakers from Triodos Bank to explore the real cost of food, energy, society and finance.

Held at The Passenger Shed near Bristol Temple Meads station between 10am and 4pm, many of Triodos Bank’s customers and partners will have stalls and exhibitions on the day, giving attendees the chance to see some of the businesses and organisations Triodos helps to fund.

Exhibitioners already confirmed include The Soil Association, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Plush Chocolates, Ecotricity and Send a Cow.

“Finance can be a dry subject, so the aim of this event is to get people more excited about it by showing them a bit more about who we are, who we work with and why we are different,” said Huw Davies, head of personal banking at Triodos Bank.

“We are really pleased with the level of interest; two thirds of the 900 tickets available have already been snapped up, there are more exhibititors than ever before and we have some great guest speakers lined up in Camila, Patrick and Jeremy.”

Camila will be talking about the true cost of poverty, asking if it is possible to put a price on a happy childhood, Patrick will look at the price we are really paying for cheap food and Jeremy will explore the benefits of the transition to a low carbon economy.

Huw will also be speaking at the event, discussing the real cost and true value of finance alongside Triodos Bank’s head of business banking Rebecca Pritchard.

Triodos Bank customer Ellie Dowding describes her experience as a guest at last’s year’s event: “It was a really great day – not at all what I expected from a bank’s annual meeting. I left with plenty of food for thought as to how we can all actively contribute to a more sustainable financial system.”
