Deadline for entries for this year's awards is May 22

The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), the professional body for facilities management, announced today that it has now opened entries for its prestigious and industry-leading awards for 2016.

Entries are now being actively sought from companies, teams and individuals eager to showcase their exemplary work under three overall themes of ‘People’, ‘Impact’ and ‘Innovation’.

As part of the ‘Impact’ theme, BIFM is seeking to identify and reward sustainable and environmental initiatives that can objectively demonstrate the positive impact that they have had on the organisation and society at large.

All entries will be considered as part of a robust judging process, which will culminate in a high-profile awards ceremony on October 12.

‘Impact on Sustainability’ category lead judge, Mike Packham, comments: “Society is placing ever greater emphasis on sustainability and as a result there is increasing pressure on organisations to take positive action on a wide range of social and environmental issues.

“We are looking for entries that demonstrate their positive impact on a broad range of sustainability issues – both within the context of the organisation itself and in relation to society and the environment”.

This year’s facilities management awards will showcase the important role that FM plays in relation to business, the economy and society.

Sustainability is top of the agenda for BIFM and the Institute runs a variety of initiatives for its 15,000 members including standards, professional training and a Special Interest Group (SIG) on this subject.

The SIG acts as a centre of excellence for knowledge and opinion within the FM sector and helps to share and promote best practice in sustainable development through tools, insight and a programme of CPD events.

For further support, potential entrants are encouraged to contact the BIFM Awards team on +44 (0)1279 712 640 or email awards@bifm.org.uk.
