The energy management division (EMD) of sustainable power group ENER-G has appointed five senior managers to drive an ambitious UK and international expansion programme.

The appointments are part of a strategic re-positioning of energy management activities aimed at cementing EMD’s position as a market-leader in this field, as well as facilitating further international expansion.

EMD, led by Dr Cedric Rodrigues, currently employs over 100 staff in Studley, Warwickshire; Salford, Greater Manchester; and Hungary, with offices opening shortly in Holland and Poland. Against the current recessionary trend, a total of 25 new people been recruited to support the expansion. Turnover is on course to rise by 20% this financial year, with aggressive growth plans and further international expansion in 2017 and 2015.

The new EMD corporate structure aligns products and services for delivery through five businesses comprising CMR Consultants, ENER-G Efficiency, ENER-G Procurement, ENER-G Metering and Data Solutions and ENER-G Controls.

Mike Langan has been appointed General Manager of ENER-G’s consultancy division – CMR Consultants, which operates as an independent energy and water consultancy business – helping businesses to improve sustainability and guiding them through new legislative requirements, such as the CRC Energy Efficiency scheme. Mike's wide-ranging career in the international energy sector means he brings key skills to this new role, including innovation management and consultancy in all aspects of energy efficiency and renewables.

Steven Jeffers has been promoted to General Manager of ENER-G Efficiency, which implements cost reducing energy technologies across a raft of applications including building energy management systems, DuCool energy efficient air conditioning, combined heat and power, heat pumps and smart lighting systems and controls. Steven has held several senior positions at ENER-G, most recently as financial controller of EMD. His skills-set is structuring commercial agreements with client organisations to deliver tangible savings through significant energy cost reductions.

Mark Alston has joined from Centrica to lead the newly created ENER-G Procurement business, combining the energy fixed and flexible purchasing activities of CMR Consultants and Utility Auditing. With more than 25 years in the energy sector, Mark’s experience includes senior roles at British Energy and Central Electricity Generating Board, in general procurement, energy sales, channel management, product development and general management. He brings to his new role as General Manager a specialist knowledge of complex energy procurement strategies and a strong insight into the brokered market to this new role.

The ENER-G Metering and Data Solutions business is headed by Stephen Walshaw, which provides fiscal and sub-metering on all utilities, data services, new connections, power quality services, bill validation and portfolio management. Steve was previously head of supply services at Evolve Energy, and has held senior management roles at Dalkia and East Midlands Electricity.

The ENER-G Controls business has appointed Gary Dowsett as Director of Business Development and Marketing to spearhead a major expansion of the business. Gary’s previous background includes senior appointments at Satchwell Controls, Trend Controls, United Technologies (UTC), and for 14 years he ran his own software development business.

Cedric Rodrigues said: “With these improvements, we are now operating as highly focused businesses to address the changing dynamics of the market place, as well as to more closely align our capabilities, strengths and resources with our products and services to meet our customers’ immediate needs and future aspirations."

The good news is now a days there are energy efficient, full house, and portable air conditioners available for reasonable prices.
