Leading law firm TLT continues to expand its energy & renewables team with the hire of planning & environment partner, Andrew Ryan.

Andrew has extensive experience advising on the acquisition, development and funding of numerous solar, wind and anaerobic digestion projects. Projects that Andrew has advised on include a 30MW wind farm in Co. Tyrone; two major energy from waste plants in Belfast; a 1.5MW anaerobic digestion facility in Dungannon; and portfolios of single wind turbine and solar PV developments.

He has advised clients, particularly in the Energy & Renewables sector, on a variety of issues including regulatory compliance, grid connection, power purchase agreements, planning and Environmental Impact Assessment, incentive schemes and construction.

Andrew joins TLT’s 45-strong energy & renewables team. In the last 18 months the firm has made some strategic appointments in the energy and renewables sector including real estate partner Kathryn Forde and real estate associate Sarah Ewing based in Belfast; Simon Williams, a real estate associate based in Glasgow; Qas Mohammed, a real estate associate based in Manchester; and Kay Hobbs, a corporate associate based in the firm’s Bristol office.

The team is well known for their renewable expertise including wind, solar, hydro, anaerobic digestion, biomass and tidal schemes. To date the team has been involved in getting over 1GW of solar projects either in the pipeline, contracted or built.

Recently they advised Tidal Lagoon Power, the world’s largest tidal energy project, on the grant of a Power Purchase option to clean energy supplier, Good Energy. Another high-profile deal saw the team advises Ecotricity on its joint venture to develop up to £500 million worth of onshore wind farms.
