Our client is a leader in the field of anaerobic digestion on a farm and commercial scale, they design, build and commission systems up to 250kw in output, and have an excellent reputation for innovation.

The role is part of the senior management team and requires you to take complete operational ownership and to have full financial and contractual accountability for delivering multiple technically complex AD projects, on time, to budget, scope, benefits, risks and to the highest specification; whilst providing overall leadership to the project teams across all project phases. This will encompass everything from commencement, the design and procurement processes, through to site delivery, commissioning and handover. You will also ensure that the major scope of works, customer relationships, continuous improvement, and profitability are developed, communicated and understood by all managers and operational staff.

Specific responsibilities include;

• Ensure that health & safety, quality and environmental procedures are adopted at management and operations level, as a minimum and drive improvements in performance in conjunction with QHSE Manager

• Ensure that customer relationships are maintained at the highest standard through clearly understood lines of communication

• Plan, delegate, monitor and control all aspects of project delivery and the motivation of those involved to achieve the project objectives

• Manage and mentor project teams to deliver the PM Service efficiently and effectively

• Develop the team structure, systems and processes that support delivery of the build

• Participate in skill gaps analysis to identify key areas of project management that need to be developed and ensure successful transfer of skills

• Work with suppliers, sub-contractors and internal parties to ensure that every project delivers best value

• Set project teams for new contracts to enable mobilisation on site and subsequent project delivery

• Manage KPI’s and set the objectives

• Oversee project Profit and Loss, with input from the PMs ensuring that financial reporting is undertaken and all financial targets and monthly budgets are achieved

• Oversee staff performance , training, development and discipline whilst recruiting for any future appointments

• To work well and liaise with all other senior management on current and future developments

Specific skills and experience needed;

• Must have relevant senior management experience within the construction or renewables industry, preferably as principal contractor

• Demonstrable leadership skills

• A keen client focus, with the ability to to build professional relationships with both customers and their consultant

• Proven ability to set strategic goals and have the ability to produce implementation plans that deliver these goals

• Detailed knowledge of Health & Safety regulations (particularly CDM) with certification toIOSH level (essential) or NEBOSH (preferable)

• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation and organisation skills

• Ideally professionally qualified (degree or equivalent in a construction related subject)

• Results focused with business experience which encompasses an understanding of a broad range of business functions inc. project management, commercial, contractual, SHEQ, programming and planning

• Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular MS Project, Word and Excel to an advanced level

• Full UK driving licence (essential).

This hands on role will be a rewarding, exciting, challenging and varied position for an experienced Senior Projects Manager or Head of Operations, with excellent people management skills. This role will heavily involve applying your own experience and initiative and thinking outside of the box when needed. You will be required to react and provide guidance to resolve any potential project issues whilst ensuring that the company is commercially covered.
